Emergency Dental Care in Bay City, MI — For Mason Dental Patients

We reserve same-day emergency visits for existing patients of record. If you are a current Mason Dental patient with a dental emergency — a broken tooth, severe pain, a knocked-out tooth, an abscess, or dental trauma — call or text (989) 686-6110 and we will do everything possible to see you the same day.

Not a Mason Dental patient yet? Emergency appointments are one of the benefits we protect for our patients of record. If you would like that same peace of mind, we welcome new patients — schedule a new-patient exam and you will have same-day emergency access going forward. If you are experiencing a medical emergency (difficulty breathing, loss of consciousness, severe facial trauma), call 911 immediately.

What Counts as a Dental Emergency?

If you are a patient of record and you are experiencing any of the following, call us immediately — don’t wait:

  • Severe, persistent tooth pain that isn’t controlled by over-the-counter pain relief
  • Broken, chipped, or cracked tooth, especially if you see nerve or feel exposed tissue
  • Knocked-out permanent tooth — time matters; the first 30–60 minutes offer the best chance of saving it
  • Lost filling or crown causing pain or sensitivity
  • Dental abscess or swelling (pimple-like bump on gum, facial swelling, fever)
  • Soft tissue injury to lips, cheeks, or tongue with heavy bleeding
  • Sports-related dental injury — mouthguard trauma, impact to teeth
  • Severe sensitivity to hot, cold, or pressure that suddenly worsens
  • Dental pain keeping you awake at night

What to Do Before You Arrive

Knocked-Out Tooth

Pick up the tooth by the crown only (the white part — never touch the root). Gently rinse with water if dirty. If possible, place it back in the socket and bite down on a clean cloth. If reimplantation isn’t possible, keep the tooth moist in milk, saline solution, or between your cheek and gum. Call us immediately at (989) 686-6110.

Severe Pain or Abscess

Rinse gently with warm salt water. Take over-the-counter pain medication as directed. Apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek to reduce swelling. Do not apply aspirin directly to the tooth or gum. Call our office right away.

Broken or Chipped Tooth

Save any pieces you can recover. Rinse your mouth with warm water. If there’s bleeding, apply gauze with gentle pressure. Cover any sharp edges with dental wax or sugar-free gum if available. Call us for same-day care.

Frequently Asked Questions — Emergency Dental Care in Bay City

I’m not a Mason Dental patient yet. Can you see me for an emergency?

We reserve same-day emergency visits for existing patients of record, so we are not able to schedule emergency appointments for new patients. The best way to protect yourself and your family is to establish care now: call or text (989) 686-6110 to schedule a new-patient exam, and you will have emergency access as a patient of record from then on.

How fast can existing patients get an emergency appointment?

Call or text (989) 686-6110. In most cases we can see patients of record the same day. If you call early in the day, we frequently get patients in within a couple of hours.

Do you see emergency patients without insurance?

Yes — for existing patients of record, insurance is never a barrier to emergency care. We accept CareCredit financing, offer flexible in-house payment plans, and have an in-house dental membership plan for patients without insurance. We will review treatment costs with you before starting any emergency procedure.

Do you do emergency tooth extractions?

Yes, we offer same-day emergency extractions for our patients when necessary. For complex cases, we may recommend a referral to a specialist, but in most emergency situations we can handle the extraction in-office.

What if my child has a dental emergency?

We see the children of our patient families for emergencies of all kinds. Our team is kid-friendly and uses sedation options when appropriate. Call (989) 686-6110 immediately.

I’m scared of the dentist. Can you still help in an emergency?

Absolutely yes. Mason Dental specifically accommodates dental anxiety — we offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas), oral sedation, and a judgment-free environment. Tell our team when you call that you have dental anxiety so we can prepare.

Can you fix a broken tooth the same day?

In most cases, yes. Depending on the severity, we can often bond, restore, or place a temporary crown the same day for our patients. For complex cases requiring a permanent crown, we will stabilize the tooth the same day and complete the permanent restoration shortly after.
