Mason Dental is hiring a part-time Registered Dental Assistant to support our visiting periodontist, Dr. William Mason, in Bay City, Michigan. This is a flexible, as-needed role — typically one to three days per month — with the schedule set well in advance so it fits easily around a full-time job, school, or family. We welcome applicants from across the Great Lakes Bay region — Bay City, Saginaw, Midland, Freeland, Essexville, Auburn, and the surrounding towns.

What makes this role different
This is a specialty chairside role assisting Dr. William Mason during periodontal procedures. Because periodontal days are scheduled months ahead, you’ll always know your dates well in advance — ideal if you want to add a few flexible, well-paid days to your month without a full-time commitment. There is no OSHA or compliance responsibility in this role; you’ll focus purely on excellent chairside support.
What You’ll Do
- Assist Dr. William Mason during periodontal procedures — including scaling and root planing support, surgical periodontal treatment, extractions, and implant placement support — with smooth four-handed dentistry
- Set up sterile surgical trays and instruments for periodontal treatment
- Prepare and break down operatories between patients, following strict infection-control protocols
- Take and process digital dental radiographs (digital X-rays)
- Perform expanded functions allowed under your Michigan RDA registration
- Provide post-operative instructions and answer patient questions with warmth and patience
- Help patients feel comfortable and informed, especially those who are nervous about periodontal or surgical care
- Maintain accurate charting in our practice-management software (Eaglesoft experience is a plus)
- Manage sterilization of periodontal instruments
What We’re Looking For
Required
- Active Michigan Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) registration in good standing
- Dental radiography certification
- Current CPR / BLS certification
- Strong chairside and four-handed dentistry skills
- Dependable, organized, detail-oriented
- A warm, professional manner with patients and teammates
- Availability for occasional weekday periodontal days (scheduled well in advance)
Nice to have
- Periodontal or oral-surgery assisting experience
- Experience with Eaglesoft practice-management software
- Expanded-functions experience under Michigan RDA scope
- Comfort with digital X-ray and intraoral imaging systems
