Typically three to six months from placement to final crown, because the bone needs time to fuse to the implant. Some cases qualify for a temporary tooth the same day so you are never without a tooth.
The placement is done with local anesthetic, and sedation is available if you want it. Most patients say it is easier than the extraction was. Expect some soreness for a few days, managed with over-the-counter pain relievers.
Often, yes. Bone grafting rebuilds the area so an implant can be placed. Because our periodontist does grafting in-house, bone loss usually adds a step rather than ruling you out.
With normal brushing, flossing and regular cleanings, the implant itself can last decades. The crown on top typically lasts 10 to 15 years and can be replaced without touching the implant.
